LHR transport dilemma - need help thinking outside the box . . .

Hi, I'm maybe considering not doing a TR - it might end up sounding too whiny. Or at least waiting til I'm in a better frame of mind. I severely sprained my ankle and the last 5 days entailed me driving the other two to some castle/garden/village and then sitting in the car for 3 or 4 hours while they explored. I got a LOT of radio 4 time in some lovely car parks. Still on the crutches intermittently, and now the 'no show' is asking for refunds of some of what she prepaid. I explained that I'll work out some refund of her B&B deposits. That I ended up having to pay more for being single occupant but that I did get the benefit of her deposits so I'd work out a reasonable amount. But she thinks she should get back the cost of her train ticket and 1/4 of the pre paid car rental.
Uh - no
But yeah, I may get around to writing a TR this weekend - it wasn't all bad, had a lot of fun but I really am over traveling w/ clueless broads

JANISJ, what a bummer! Those gals do sound like a heartless bunch - as you said "clueless."
Sorry about your ankle. Wow, that must have been difficult to drive with also. My daughter, the nurse, admonishes me, "Mom, as you get older (yeah), remember two important points: one, take care of your feet (I have regular pedis) and two, DON'T FALL."
I leave for London solo for ten days on June 15. I expect to watch my step carefully, but you never know. Hope your next junket is solo. Good luck and please do your trip report and let it all hang out.

Janisj,
So sorry to hear about your ankle. Last year, the day before we were supposed to leave to go to the Great Smoky Mountains and Nashville, my mother in law fell in the street. She required emergency surgery and then rehab so needless to say we had to cancel the whole trip. I hope you recover soon.
Please do write a trip report.

Janis: Please do a trip report - they are always informative, well written and funny.
I have been following along, and am surprised at the ladies not wanting to DO food. When I travel with my sisters and nieces, the challenge I have is getting them OUT of restaurants, not INTO them
You were a trooper to drive them back and forth, despite your injury.
Hey latedaytraveller - what are your plans for your next visit to London? You'd love to be here today, as the weather is just glorious. I am hoping this is not our ONLY day of summer.
Best ... Ger

Hi O'Reilly,
"Hey latedaytraveller - what are your plans for your next visit to London?" Probably more than I can ever accomplish, of course.
Tickets to MATISSE CUTOUTS as the TATE MODERN, a talk at the QUEEN'S GALLERY (with wine!), two day trips out of town to name a few. I am also trying to get a ticket (they will be available on line tomorrow, June 9) at the LSE featuring the new economic rock star THOMAS PIKETTY who wrote that new book on Capital.
On my last night, June 26 I have a ticket for the STATE OF LONDON DEBATE 2014 with Boris Johnson, London's colorful mayor at the new City Hall on the Southbank. I get a real kick out of Johnson.
Again, this is my first totally solo junket so I hope to keep busy. Will report all in good time...

OOH -- did sandralist/zeppole post something nasty?? I missed them - but not surprising (though she usually doesn't venture into UK threads) What did she find so offensive????
I'll put together a TR - I'm trying to organize my notes. Didn't do a real journal this trip so it may not be as detailed as past reports - plus the pain meds the A&E fixed me up w/ make some of the last 5 days a bit of a blur. And no - I didn't drive drugged up

I wish I had copied the posts in anticipation of their being deleted.
Really classic invective. Basically you choose travel companions who are dependent then have a go at them, it's all about you, etc. etc.
The rest of are no better because we laugh at your descriptions behind your travel mates' backs.
And on and on.
