Leaving Sorrento to fly out of Rome

The last part of our trip will be spent in Sorrento. We fly out of Rome at noon. Should we go back to Rome the night before or could we spend the night in sorrento and leave for Rome airport the next morning?
How long of a commute is it from Sorrento to the airport in Rome? What time should we be at the airport for a 12:00 flight?

Thanks!

You'll want to go back to Rome or maybe someplace close to the airport like Cittavechia?

mnatella-

It is a looooong commute. I suggest you head back to Rome for your last night.
Sorrento - Naples 40mins
Naples - Rome Termini 2hrs
Rome Termini - FCO 35mins
And you should be at the airport about 2 hrs before your flight.

mnatella-

Not that this makes any more difference to you, but I just realized that the time I gave between Sorrento & Naples was incorrect.
Sorrento - Naples 70mins (instead of 40)

You could spend the better part of your last day in Sorrento, then take a late afternoon train (via Naples) to Roma Termini and stay overnight near the Termini Station. The next morning, you can (at your leisure) take the train to Fiumicino.
