I posted earlier looking for an inexpensive hotel in the 5th, and at least two people wrote in to praise the Hotel Familia.

Someone also recommended the Hotel du College de France (http://www.hotel-collegedefrance.com/index.html) which has a Superior Double room with a balcony overlooking the street for 120 euros (and other rooms for less).

I'm staying at the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles (http://www.hotel-grandes-ecoles.com/), which has garden view rooms for 113-138 euros, depending on which building you get.

Just got back from a stay at La Familia--I was with 5 other family members and had a tiny single room. The doubles were much nicer with window boxes. AC worked great and little fridge is handy too. Good location..good price. Daytime staff is great. One of the night guys (we called him Icabod Crane) was a little scary. If you're looking a basic hotel with a good reputation, it fits the bill.
