L'Abbaye Saint-Germaine

I am beginning to plan my family's first trip to Paris and am looking into hotels. Has anyone stayed at the L'Abbaye Saint-Germaine? The web site looks great, but I hate to choose something so important based solely on pictures. It will be the 4 of us-- myself, husband and two kids (ages 10 and 12). We will be there from December 20-28 and would like a comfortable place that is fairly central to the sites.
Any thoughts on this hotel or others you would recommend? I have also thought about finding an apartment. Do any of you think that may be a better idea? Our costs are somewhere in the $250/night range (USD). Having never done this, I will have many more questions coming as I plan! Thanks for your help in advance.

The Abbaye Saint-Germain (no "e&quotis a 4-star hotel, and I am pretty sure you won't be able to get even one room for two people there for $250. $250 is about 155€. I have never rented an apartment, but you might be able to get an apartment closer to your price range.
Since I always stay in the 6th and really like that area, I believe that the location of the Abbaye Saint-Germain is excellent. If you worry a bit about the quality of this hotel, I know you would not be satisfied with mine, but someone else might have a recommendation for you.
I love Christmas in Paris; I hope you have a great time!

We stayed in a VIP apartment in the 6th, and it was way less expensive than a hotel. I would recommend it, especially since you'll have your kids with you.

Click on "All Apartments" and scroll down to see their listings in the 6th. It's a great area, and close to everything.

Enjoy your trip!

For two people a standard (very small size-12 sq. m.) costs 251 euro (USD $396.00).

This hotel is way overpriced in my opinion.

Btw, yes, I do agree that an apartment is much more economical especially for a family of four.

One agency I dealt with is called Paris Address. Rates are very reasonable and apartments are located in various districts.

With kids, apartments are the best way to go. You can have some privacy, you can get some sodas, snacks and light meals from a grocery to offset costs, and everyone will have more space to spread out. If you'd like to persue it, you'll get plenty of recommendations from this site.

Thanks for all of your advice and suggestions. I am definitely moving in the direction of getting an apartment-- it will suit our family better in many ways. I will post the links on a new thread to see if any of you have stayed at any of the apartments we are looking at.
