LA RESIDENZA: please provide your comments.
I was referred to this hotel in Rome, La Residenza, by the proprietors of the Hotel Flora (Venice). Can anyone provide their comments/reviews on this hotel. I'm planning to be there in May, '04. Thanks.

Hello, trees5, we are staying there in July. Some people here have recommended it. I also read some good comment in various travel guides. Here is their website in case you haven't located it: http://www.thegiannettihotelsgroup.com/eng/index.asp
If you stay there, could you tell us about the hotel when you return?
Have a great trip.

Hello trees5,
My sister and I stayed at La Residenza Hotel on Via Emilia in October 2000. Our room was comfortable with a nice entry area and had a small terrace with a table and chairs. It didn't have a view, but that didn't matter to us because we didn't have time to sit out there. We had a large wardrobe with a lot of room for our clothes and suitcases (4 by the time we left Rome even though we started our trip with only two small boarding bags). Our room had a desk and chair, an armchair and a sofa at the foot of the bed. The bathroom was adequate with bathtub and shower; it had a towel warmer. The breakfast room and common areas are nicely furnished. The breakfast was a wonderful American style buffet with eggs, bacon, pancakes, and the usual breakfast items. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The area near Via Veneto is a lovely area, but we found it a little remote. The metro is about three blocks away on Piazza Barberini. We loved the hotel. I think it's rated 4 star, but is more like a good 3 star. We loved everything about it except its distance from main sites such as the Pantheon, et. We're planning a trip to Italy in April and have reserved at the Santa Chiara near the Pantheon. Have a good trip. Gladys

Just wondering if you have returned yet and if you stayed at the La Residenza on Via Emilia. If so, can you recommend a specific room to request - perhaps one with a terrace and a pleasant view? I did request this when we made our reservation but we did not have a specific room number and hotel said they would do their best to accommodate us.
I would like to say that the concierge there is very helpful - they will arrange hotel transfers for us (50 Euros for two people and luggage - is this reasonable?) We emailed late afternoon yesterday to ask about an Avis rental facility near their hotel since we decided not to rent a car until we depart for Sorrento. We did not want to go back to the airport to do this so we emailed the hotel to find out if there was an Avis office nearby. The reply came back in a few hours. We had a follow up question and that reply was there this morning. Then this morning my husband emailed asking for the address since there were several Avis offices in the area and that information came back immediately. They certainly have been helpful to us with the car rental information.
