Kenmare Lodging question
Hi again - I have a dilemma regarding lodging for two nights in the Kenmare area, 8/26 and 8/27. Originally we had planned to spend both nights in Kenmare at the Sheen Falls Lodge or Park Hotel Kenmare. But, when I looked at the prices !!! Park Hotel is $430/night and Sheen Falls is $520. So then I thought of staying only one night at one of those hotels and staying somewhere cheaper for the other night. However, although its pretty much blasphemy on this board we're not really into the B&B thing. I considered staying in Killarney for the first night (Great Southern Hotel gets good reviews and its $180/night) and then splurging the second night. But...to stay in Killarney or not to stay? When I was there it was January so obviously, no crowds! But being there in August I am concerned that it will be too much. Also, this will be our first night in Ireland (we land in Shannon at 10 am on the 26th). For one night how bad could it be? We will be jetlagged anyway, right?
By way of background DH and I are late 20s/early 30s, no kids, enjoy pubs, outdoors, pubs that have outdoor areas...

There is a hotel directly across from the entrance to the Park Hotel...called The Landsdown Arms Hotel. When I was in Kenmare last year I was staying about 1 mile away from town...and did not like being so far removed. I looked at the Park Hotel and Sheehan Falls Lodge (both so expensive). I thought the Landsdown Arms looked very clean...and nice..in the lobby and bar...I did not see a room. You can probably google the name and get on their website to check prices. Good luck/.

I have stayed at the Lansdowne Arms Hotel in Kenmare. It is very nice. Another place that is excellent is The Lodge. It is a guest house but more like a small hotel. They only serve breakfast at the guest house but the hotel serves all meals.

We are also booked into The Lodge in Kenmare http://www.thelodgekenmare.com/. I don't think it qualifies as a B&B.
