Sheen Falls Lodge

Has anyone stayed here? What was your experience? I realize it's expensive but I'm planning our first two nights here and I'm looking to splurge. Worth it?

If it helps, my boss stayed there a couple of years ago and raved about this place. And he wasn't an easy man to please! I always said if I ever went to Ireland and could afford it, I'd stay at the Sheen Falls Lodge.

I've not stayed at Sheen Falls Lodge but did stop by to look at the hotel with someone who was interested in staying there. It is a beautiful property but it's outside of Kenmare. I would prefer staying at the Park Hotel in Kenmare, which I've done, for its location. We like being within walking distance of restaurants and pubs.
Both hotels are definitely worth the splurge!

Sheen Falls is definately worth a splurge. We had a room overlooking the falls. The common areas are lovely and everything is lit by candlelight and firelight at night. The property is wonderful. My husband even took a fly fishing lesson there. We had a car and it's a quick easy drive in to town.

Never stayed there, but never heard a complaint. It is certainly a high end establishment.

Sheen Falls is absolutely beautiful. First class all the way but very expensive. The grounds, public rooms and bedrooms are exquisite. The bathrooms are all marble. It is a short drive to Kenmare but not within walking distance. For my money though, I actually preferred Sallyport House or The Lodge.

My brother-in-law stayed there a couple of years ago and strongly suggested that we splurge. Sorry, that would wipe out the better part of our B&B budget, but it does sound lovely...
