The Museum of Hoaxes account of the gestation of San Seriffe is a total travesty of the truth.
It completely suppresses the role of the immortal Jeremy Bullmore in developing the idea. Of the 30 or so overworked, underpaid and insanely overtalented J Walter Thompson staff (modesty prevents+ Mrs F or me from revealing their identities) who persuaded the cream of British industry to fund it. And of the 30 or so overpaid and underworked JWT creative people who produced by far the funniest and most incisive parts of the greatest supplement in Western newspaper history - the ads that bound the articles together.

This reminds me of the site I found last year when my daughter was doing a project on "global warming." I don't have the link handy, but the "very official looking" site claimed that global warming was caused by 1) termite flatulence and 2) cow patties. I like that explanation myself. LOL
