Joe,

It was the most fun I've had at a West End Theatre EVER!

Highly recommended. Get the badges after wards (they hand them out - and they have some of the most extraordinary slogans on them).

BTW - the pub directly over the road from the theatre is very nice and by far the cheapest pub that I know in the West End

I can imagine people's eyebrows rising a bit but forget it!! Imagine what they'd say if it was "Rush Limbaugh Opera"!!!!

I've heard it's great - but the English are always more open than Americans. Perhaps when it's run long enough there, it might come to the states.

This is amazing. I just saw where Jerry Springer has extended their bookings for a full year -- until January 8, 2005. To my knowledge that's almost unheard of in London. Must be very confident of their popularity. I'll call tomorrow for tickets in May.

No the pub doesn't serve food late - but this is hardly a concern. The theatre is in Seven Dials (Covent Garden) and you have Soho and Chinatown nearbye - which are late night areas.

Well, I called this morning. Oddly the Cambridge Theatre Box Office number was quite elusive. The numbers listed on several sites including TheatreMonkey's were incorrect. For reference when someone does a search for Jerry Springer the correct number is: 0207 494 5054. Dialing from the US, first dial 011 44 then drop the first 0.

I got great seats for May 11, on center aisle seventh row.

This is probably a stupid question. I have just booked two seats for J.Springer show in May and got "stalls/dress circle". What does that mean in the theater?

Not a stupid questions. The stalls are what we usually refer to as orchestra - generally the first section near the stage. (I think.)

Yes, but dress circle is the first balcony or what we in the US call the mezzanine. I'm not sure which yours are for, the stalls or the dress circle. What are your seat numbers? Actually that won't help either, as the dress circle repeats the same row and seat numbers as the stalls. Surely your tickets must say one or the other, not both, don't they?

here's a seating plan

http://www.albemarle-london.com/seat...ridgeseat.html

(Here's a small non-pushy suggestion to americans: If you want to know something about a British thing, and are familar with google, put in www.google.co.uk and select uk pages only - almost all of the questions that get asked here can be answered there. Try it. Ditto france (www.google.fr) etc, most sites have an english version(often hilarious).

Just wanted to report that the Olivier Award nominations are out, and Jerry Springer: the Opera dominates the musical categories, garnering nominations for best new musical, best actor in a musical (two nominations in that category -- one for Michael Brandon, who plays Jerry, and one for David Bedella, who plays Satan), best actress in a musical, best performance in a supporting role in a musical, best director, best choreographer, and best sound design.

Appropriately, the nominee in the "best performance in a supporting role in a musical" category is "The Chorus of Jerry Springer: the Opera." I'm not sure if that's ever been done before, but all the other nominees in that category are individuals.
