Italy/Spain Honeymoon
Hello! My Fiance and I are planning our honeymoon. We are in our early 30's and enjoy great food and wine. As of now, we only have flights booked. We are flying into Florence and fly home from Mallorca. We are considering the below itinerary.
5.22 arrive in Florence at 10:30 am - check into hotel, r&r - Stay in Florence
5.23 Florence ( this is my birthday - any special recommendations are appreciated
)
5.24 Explore Tuscany/ stay in tuscany
5.25 Explore Tuscany/ stay in tuscany
5.26 Explore Tuscany/ stay in tuscany
5.27 travel to Positano / stay in positano
5.28 Positano/Amalfi
5.29 Positano/Amalfi
5.30 Positano/Amalfi
5.31 Travel to Mallorca/stay in Mallorca
6.1 Mallorca
6.2 Mallorca
6.3 - depart Mallorca at 10 pm
We are leaning towards 5 nights in florence, 4 nights in positano, 3 nights in Mallorca. My Fiance has been to Rome, I have not. We considered adding in a stop from Florence to Positano, however are also trying not to pack in too much, as we want to have time to relax, too.
We would love to hear your feedback on our proposed itinerary above ^
Main questions we have:
How should we break up our time in Florence/Tuscany? Where should we stay?
How long should we stay in Positano and what areas do you recommend?
Any food or wine tour recommendations in these areas?
Any hotel recommendations in these areas?
Thank you!!!!

I hope you're not too late in asking for lodging recommendations in some of these locations... Lots places in Positano and Mallorca get booked up many months in advance. What is your budget?
I don't understand your plan for the Florence/Tuscany days and nights. Were you thinking of staying only in Florence and making day trips out of the city to various places in the Tuscan countryside? Were you planning to rent a car or use a combination of public transportation, private guides and organized tours? Where exactly in Tuscany were you hoping to explore?
If your focus is more on the smaller countryside towns, and you're only looking at a total of 5 nights (4 full days), you might want to skip Florence altogether. Having a car while staying IN Florence presents some downsides: leaving and returning while avoiding the limited traffic zone, dealing with traffic congestion, overnight parking costs, and a geographic limit of what you could travel to in a day... Also, FYI, if your only days for seeing Florence are Sunday 5/22/22 and Monday 5/23/22, you may have trouble doing everything on your sightseeing list as most of the major sights are not open every Sunday and Monday. You'd have to carefully plan your time.
If you skipped Florence, you could take a bus (90 minutes) or splurge on a driver to take you from the Florence Airport to Siena. Spend Sunday and Monday seeing Siena, then rent a car and make excursions to smaller towns to the south in the Val d'Orcia (such as Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano), north in Chianti (Radda, Castellina, etc.) and/or west-ish through the Val d'Elsa to San Gimignano, Volterra, etc. Or split the nights between Siena and another town. Return the car at Chiusi and train to Naples from there.
How will you travel to Positano? Coming from Florence would involve at least 2 trains (3 hours total) to reach Naples. (From Chiusi, it's 2 trains, 3+ hours.) From Naples, you can (1) hire a private driver or taxi to take you directly to your hotel, (2) take a taxi to the ferry dock and then a ferry to Positano, or (3) take a 3rd train to Sorrento and bus or taxi from there to your hotel.
How will you travel from Positano to Mallorca? At a minimum, you'll have to backtrack to Naples (Airport), so don't book an early-early flight. It can take upwards of 2 hours to drive from Positano to the Naples Airport.
It's your honeymoon, and you included both Positano and Mallorca and asked for feedback. If it was my honeymoon, I'd chose one or the other but not both.

I would stay in Florence all five nights and do a day tour or 2 to other towns in the Tuscan countryside if you want. It depends on what you want to see and do but I would not change hotels when you can access many places in Tuscany from Florence. Will you have a car? If so, you won't want to stay right in the centre of Florence as parking and the ZTL is a problem.
One time when we had a car we stayed in Bagno a Ripoli which is a few miles outside of the city; we stayed at Villa Olmi which was lovely and had a shuttle back and forth to the city. villaolmifirenze.com
If you will be car free then you can access many other towns by train or bus. If you are looking for a wine tour from Florence I recommend Florence and Chianti tours,

Her name is Laura McDonald, she's a sommelier, American originally, lived in Florence for years, fluent in Italian, very friendly and personable. She will organize shipping of wine back to your home if you wish.
You can take a fast train from Florence to Naples, it makes a short stop in Rome (you don't change trains) and takes 2 hours 50 minutes. This is with the company called Italo Treno. I did this trip and it was great, fast, everything went smoothly, you can have a drink and a snack on board. Jean gives good advice on how to get to Positano.
Although I see the appeal of Mallorca, it does seem a bit rushed. It will take a bit of time to get from Positano to Naples the day of your flight.
Do you have a price point for hotels? Give us that and we can recommend hotels.
