There used to be a name in the local phone book that we got a kick out of: Henauder Titzoff.

Ira: I'm just using this thread to ask this so I won't disrupt a "travel" thread with off-topic chatter. What happened to the grammar/punctuation/forum personalities thread? Did it suddenly become offensive? I wasn't posting on it too much, because I think, in general, Internet boiards are booby-trapped around the holidays, but the last I looked, it wasn't very nasty. It was apparently deleted. What happened?

It was vaporized sometime this morning. Too off-topic, I suppose. Although since the first part of it was travel-related, I'm surprised fodors didn't just lock it down and leave it alone. Who are we mere mortals to comprehend the decisions of the gods?

I once worked for a man named Richard Seaman and his wife would call him Dick. Every time she asked for him on the phone I would die. His son changed his last name because he was the Jr.

I'm an adult, but I didn't feel like one whenever I had to talk to a client of a company I used to work for...his name was Dick Porn. I could never bring myself to call him by his nickname, I always had to call him Richard for fear of turning into a giggly school girl.

Marilyn: Odd, isn't it? It was actually a little travel-related, and reasonably civil. Maybe the title of the thread just looked potentially dangerous, so it was deleted by someone who doesn't read beyong titles.

Hi cmt,

I guess it was getting too long and off topic. I miss it, too.

Someone asked about assure/ensure/insure, and I thought of a good example.

"We took a small boat from the skiff to go assure. Once ensure, we walked insure about a mile, and came back."
