Interested in visiting Rome alone...
I'm interested in visiting Rome, as a 17 year old male is it feasible to visit this city alone and have a trouble free visit providing you take the precautions you'd take anywhere else? I'm from the UK, and have visited big cities like London and Birmingham alone, but only for a day and have had no problems, but I haven't spent an extended amount of time there, only 5-6 hours.
I don't know much about Italy and what's acceptable as far as dress goes, or, more to the point, what will and won't attract potential criminals for any reason. I wear tight jeans, converse, bright t shirts, aviator sunglasses, etc. Relatively flamboyant, yet not particularly odd. As the UK is a pretty open minded country with many different scenes and styles of dress, I've never had much problem, except for the occasional comment, is this the case in Italy, or are you more likely to find people want to pick a fight with someone different.
Don't get me from, I'm not making assumptions about Italy, I just wanna clear up any worries I have about it.
Thanks.

As long as you don't wear your screen name on your clothing, I imagine you'll be fine. The Italians, though stylish in a way that's quite different from British style, aren't judgmental about what others wear, IME. In fact, most of them won't even notice what you're wearing.

I spent a couple of weeks there solo when I was 18 -- a long time ago. One of the great fortnights of my life.
Generally, the modern Italian is much less fierce than the modern Brit. (See <i>Brideshead Revisited</i
You shouldn't have any problems related to dress -- but something tells me you have other things in mind than general tourism -- and although that is not my life, I know that can be fraught with peril.

I often travel on business by myself, so I tend to notice other solo travelers on trains, in restaurants, etc.
I think you'll find Rome is pretty open-minded too and filled with tourists (and some Italians) wearing all sorts of interesting clothing. I don't think you'll encounter anyone who wants to pick a fight with you just because you're dressed differently. Just use your head.
