Another fan of Biddingfortravel.com and Priceline.com here. I was perusing the Germany hotel lists just today in preparation for a trip I'll be taking in November. I came across some people talking about getting great deals at a newly opened Courtyard Marriott just a 5 minute walk from the central train station. Just in the past week a couple of different people have placed $55 bids on Priceline for Munich City Center South, two stars, and were awarded this Courtyard Marriott. Some other people replied that they couldn't believe this particular hotel was rated a 2-star. They said it was easily a 3-star and better than some 4-stars in the same area. I wonder if it is rated lower strictly because it is near the train station. But if you're planning on utilizing the trains a lot during your stay in Munich, I think it's a plus.

Yeah - we suspected that the Germans were less used to warm weather than we are when we were commenting about the gorgeous weather and our German friends were saying that it was just too darned hot - LOL. A couple days later it got warmer and we were too darned hot as well. We had a great time playing in the river in the English Garden though.

Just spent the night in Munich this week. Stayed at the Tryp about 3 blocks from the station. Also, stayed there last September. Got the room on Hotels.com for $114, without breakfast. Called the hotel direct and was quoted a higher price. No air conditioning, but there was a fan in the room.
