Ideas for Dinner in Paris on Easter Sunday

I'm going to be in Paris on Easter and will be meeting up with a group of about 9 there, including 3 teens. I've never been in Paris on Easter before, and French friends of mine say that there won't be many restaurants open except around the Opéra. That's not an area that appeals to me for dinner.

Does anyone know of a decent restaurant/bistro/brasserie that would be open in the evening on Easter Sunday? I was thinking that there might be something in the Marais district, as it has traditionally been the Jewish quarter of Paris, but I don't want to take 9 people to a deli for dinner, either (I'm not meaning this to be offensive, I'm just remembering that there is a famous deli there that is often recommended).

Anyone know? Or know how I might research such information?

How about Bofinger? Always festive, always good!! They have a huge round table upstairs that we reserved for a large group once and we had a great time. (That is the smoking area though, if that's a consideration but downstairs is gorgeous, too!)

I was going to suggest Bofinger too. We had lunch there on Easter Sunday a few years ago and really enjoyed it. It was sufficiently smart for a special Easter meal, but not stuffy or over-expensive. And of course the décor is fabulous. And it's not far from the Marais!

I think the other brasseries owned by the Flo Group would probably be open too. The website www.flobrasseries.com has info on their opening hours (it says Bofinger is open later on weekends and jours feriés, for example).

With a group of nine on a Sunday, a brasserie might be your best bet. I like Thoumieux, which has managed to evade the ever-enlarging grasp of the Flo or Blanc groups.

Most hotel dining rooms should be open, too.

Hi StCirq,

You might want to consider La Fontaine de Mars 129 Rue St.Dominique, 7th Phone: 011 33 1 47 05 46 44

Near the Ecole Militaire Metro.

Thanks, everyone. Bofinger sounds like a good choice.

ira, I've been eating at La Fontaine de Mars since 1976, and I'd love to go again, but I was thinking it's a bit small for a group of nine - maybe if it's not too late to book the entire upstairs . Do you know for sure it's open on Easter?

Our favorite brasserie is Le Vaudeville, on Rue Vivienne across the street from the Bourse.
