The only time (and I've been to Paris more times than I can count)I felt concerned about my safety was when I was in the Canal St. Martin area. This is when a man kept following me and refused to accept "No" for an answer. Fortunately with the help of a store employee and a nice beat cop all ended well.

Another little-visited but delightful museum in Paris (similar to Musee Jacquemart-Andre in that it is the personal collection collection of a wealthy couple)is the Musee Cognacq-Jay. It's a charming collection of paintings, scultures, furniture, porcelain, etc. (mostly 18th century), located not far from Place des Vosges at 8, rue Elziver.
