How to get to Salzburg
Travelling from Dallas- Fort Worth to Salzburg in July, and due to air miles, we need to travel on Delta or Air France. Can you suggest best gateway to get to Salzburg (i'm guessing Vienna or Munich), but any input would surely help. Thanks in advance

Munich airport has a train station located in the lower level , just a short walk from Arrivals.
With just one change of train you can reach Salzburg in about 2 1/2 hours.
A bargian - is the Bayern Ticket for 2- 5 people traveling together to Salzburg or anywhere in Bavaria for less than 30 euro.
For the purposes of this ticket the Salzburg train station is included for travelers.
A few restrictions apply - travel weekdays must begin after 9:00 - regional trains only.

Numerous other transfer services exist - more expensive but no stress.
One caution at certain weekends in summer , the autobahn between Munich and Salzburg can be extra crowded with vacationers with resulting traffis stalls.

An alternative (admittedly quirky thinking, perhaps) would be to fly to London and take Ryanair to Salzburg (fares from 118 GBP in July, roundtrip with all taxes and fees). This would really only make sense if you actually wanted to spend a day (or several) in England (perhaps both directions). The flights are from London Stgansted, and connecting with any trans-atlantic DL or AF flight will be somewhere between clumsy and impossible (on the same day).
You don't say whether your focus on DL/AF miles is to collect them or redeem them - - but I think you might need as many options as possible if you are looking to redeem for summer 2010.
Best wishes,
Rex

I love quirky!!!! We actually are purchasing gradeable ticket, so we can use our miles to upgrade to FIRST!!!
My DH company is reimbursing us for the cost of the initial purchase. I really hadn't thought about London. We have been there, but as you say....i may need other options for the VERY HIGH season. Thank you for your suggestions!!! vm
