Hard to beat free. Denver-LHR-Oslo, Copenhagen-Chi-Denver June 1-20 for miles +83 bucks in taxes. Booked September 2007 at the 300 day point. SAS's fares Bergen-Stockholm and Stockholm-Copenhagen at $160 each, one way for two people was the bargain of what otherwise looks like a crazy-expensive trip. (I keep repeating, "at least it's not the UK...."

Mrs. JD and I are flying DFW - Prague - Amsterdam - DFW in the first half of June, using 75,000 Delta miles each. Booked in about November, after I thought the free stuff would be gone.
Our daughter is joining us for the Prague part of the trip. It was going to cost about $1200 for round trip, so for about the same money, she is flying to and from Dublin, spending a night each way, and taking Ryan Air to Prague. ORD -DUB round trip was about $900, DUB - PRG was about $120, plus the cost of 2 nights in Dublin, which she really wanted to see. Booked in March after waiting a couple of months for fares to drop, without any movement.
This thread is a good idea.

Paid $740.00
direct flight from Cleveland to London Gatwick
booked it Mid-January from Continental
I was pretty pleased with this since it is a direct flight and there's no lay over in JFK or Newark!!!
Oh, and I'm leaving TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!

how much did you pay?
what is your flight itinerary?
when did you book your flight?
where did you book your flight?
I want to fly to central Europe in August, but fear that I'll need to pay over $1,000 (which i'm prepared and expect to do).

I booked this last October, and it cost me 60,000 american miles!
plus taxes, which didn't amount to that much.
this is how it breaks down
ORD-IST - Turkish Airlines (gateway city)
IST--ZAG - Turkish Airlines (destination)
Dubrovnik-Gatwick - British Airways (gateway city
LHR-ORD - American Airlines
