Hotels in Positano

We are thinking of staying at the Covo Dei Saraceni Hotel in Positano. Has anyone stayed there? Is it a nice hotel? Is it worth the extra money to get a jr. suite with a balcony overlooking the sea or is a cheaper room with no view just as nice? What is a reasonable price for a 4 star hotel in Positano? We plan to be there in July for 3 days? Thanks for your help.

I've never stayed at that hotel, but imho, if you're going to stay in Positano, it's worth it to get a room with a view. I'd rather stay in a room with a view in a less expensive hotel than a deluxe hotel with no view. I stayed at the budget (for Positano) Villa La Tartana, but the view from the balcony was to die for (and worth all the stairs it took to get there).

Do you really mean Positano? Or did you mean to write Polignano in Puglia?

Because I know of a hotel by that name in Polignano. Please clarify and then I can tell you more if you like.

It is definitely paying more for a balcony. When I think of our wonderful Amalfi coast trip sitting on the balcony overlooking the sea, eating and sipping something wonderful from the local deli brings back the best memories.

RRSPIEG,
I went to Positano for my honeymoon-we LOVED IT!
We stayed at the Punta Regina and have referred it to many friends since our stay there. Our room had a gorgeous balcony and the pirce was very reasonable.
I would definitely get a room with a view - the view will be a memory forever!
Wear sturdy walking shoes!

We just came back from 3 weeks in Italy, one of which was in Positano. We booked through Summer In Italy and got a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with a view to die for. Check it out! Positano is a really wonderful place to be!

We stayed at the Albergo California last week and thought it was very nice for a relatively affordable hotel. Try to get them to commit to give you a room on an upper floor with balcony; these rooms have incredible views of the city and the water. Another advantage is that it is conveniently located within an easy, almost flat walk of a SITA bus stop, and it is a relatively easy walk to the harbor. The owners are characters; you may want to take their recommendations with some grains of salt though.
