I think that Le Sirene is the best deal on the coast and the views are amazing. They even have A/C. It is in a small town between Amalfi and Positano. There are buses all day to take you from town to town. http://www.lesirene.com/tarifs.htm

Le Sirene is in the town of Praiano, just a short bus hop away from Positano. The rates are indeed quite reasonable for the area.

We were thrilled with our 165€ per night double in Positano (Hotel California Positano)... it is an expensive little town

In Positano, check out the Villa Rosa at www.villarosapositano.com
It's a wonderful little, friendly hotel with spectacular views of the sea and mountains. It was a "budget" hotel when we were there in 2001 ( around $87 for a double--back when there were lira); not a true budget today, although still good value for the $$, as things go in Positano. 140 euro, low season; 150, high.

Hi Bob,

I decided on Le Sirene based on Fodorites recommendations and price. I've stayed in Praiano before and loved it. I will be staying there in 18 days (not that I'm counting or anything!) and will report back when I return at the begining of Oct.

Buon viaggio!

Here's a second for Villa Rosa. The huge terrace and view were fantastic, the breakfast very good. In comparison to all the other places we stayed, it was an excellent value.
