Hotel Terminus Lyon in Paris

I will be in Paris for three days in May and need easy and frequent access to the Gare de Lyon for too many complicated reasons to list here. I know the area is not terribly charming, so am most interested in whether the Hotel Terminus Gare de Lyon is suitable for a female traveling alone. Has anyone on this board stayed there?

Thanks for any information you can provide!

If you are not sure of Terminus Gare de Lyon 3*, Ibis Ledru Rollin 2*, a few blocks closer to Place Bastille is good. And might be cheaper as well. I have stayed there a few times. Don't see any problem for a solo female to stay there. Also no noise problem when I stayed there on the street side.

however, if you don't really need access within two minutes, I have stayed at this hotel clear to place de la Bastille which is much more convenient for various things (dining, walking around, etc.) and is on the direct line to Gare de Lyon which is only one short stop away. The metro stop (line 1) is literally right across the street from it at the Bastille Opera house.

My wife & I have stayed there 3 times for 1-nighters before flying home - most recently last year. Perfect location. The area isn't as bad as you might think. We've wandered around in the "hood" many times. Have dinner at the Train Blue.

Christina, would you mind sharing the name of your hotel at the Bastille metro stop? Thanks.

sorry, I forgot the link -- I really liked it but a room on the street could be a little noisy. it's the Hotel Pavillon Bastille

We spent a night there before taking a train. It is right across the street from the station. Our room was pleasant, quiet and comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly and the breakfast was fine - the usual Parisian with breads, yogurt, coffee, tea, etc.. Nothing to worry about in the area. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there on my own and walk back and forth to the station.
