Hotel near Spanish Steps in Rome

Can anyone recommend a hotel in close proximity to the Spanish Steps? Preferably at least 3 stars, $200 to no more than $300 per night. There are 2 adults, 1 teen and 1 child. I did do a search for Spanish Steps hotels but came up with nothing. Thanks! Your recommendations are invaluable to me!

With two children, you will need a quad room. The Hotel Mozart is near the Spanish Steps, in your budget, has a quad and I believe a mini apartment, and is in your budget. Also try the Inn at the Spanish Steps.

Stayed at this hotel in March. Enjoyed it very much. "Hotel Firenze" Website is www.hotelfirenzeroma.it/ Less than 5 minute walk straight down from the Spanish Steps. It's considered a three star.

Hi!
You might want to try the Hotel San Carlo. If you can actually get closer than this to the Spanish Steps, I think the only way to do it is stay in one of the hotels at the top of them! I've stayed at this hotel twice in the past couple of months, and can give it a sincerely wonderful recommendation.

We recommend the Hotel Scalinata di Spagna and had a very nice stay there a couple years ago.(http://www.hotelscalinata.com/eng/albergo.html)
I just checked and a superior quad room starts at $290 euros - about what you are willing to spend - and this rate includes breakfast.
The location is the best - right at the top of the Spanish Steps across the street from the Hassler. We enjoyed this location because on one hand it offered vicinity to Via Veneto and Borghesi, and yet you can walk down the steps to all the shopping and easy access to Pantheon, Forum, etc.

stayed at the Hotel Valadier, rooms were small but nice and clean in your budget if I remember correctly. A little walk to the steps but not too much and the best pizza place right next door.

My post from an earlier thread:
I stayed at the Mozart last summer. Nice place, good size room, modern bathroom. Only downside was that the room was right on a main (mostly) pedestrian street. It cleared in the evening before but was noisy in the morning. Fortunately I like to get up early so it wasn't a problem.

there is a small hotel in Via Sistina called "Hotel Trinita dei Monti", is clean, decent, but ask for a room in the back, much quieter...Also Scalinata di Spagna is excellent .

I recommend the D'INGHILTERRA HOTEL, Via Bocca di Leone no 14. It is a charming hotel located in an equally charming and up-scale shopping area. It is at the bottom of the Spanish Steps, which is good because it is not fun to walk up the steps everytime you need to run back to the hotel, or climb the steps when you are tired and want to go back to the hotel to rest. Being at the bottom of the steps may be especially important for you with a baby in tow. Other than a couple of hotels, there's not much at the top of the steps anyway.

I like the d'Inghelterra too but I don't think they have quad rooms. When we looked into staying there with our two children, they said we would have to get two double rooms as even the suite was only for two persons.

I don't know what the prices are, but the Intercontinental on via Sistina is just a few doors down from the Hassler and a minute or two from the Spanish Steps. I stayed there several years ago and popped in there last week when I was in Rome. They have gone through a major renovation in the last couple of years.

It's not in the Spanish steps area but a great area as well, Santa Chiara. They do have quad/family rooms (actually 2 room suites and they also have a couple apartment type setups as well). It is located behind the Pantheon.

I believe the Fontanella Borghese has a 4-person room. We stayed at this hotel in October 2002 and loved the location, about three long blocks from the Steps (down Via Condotti).

The small square in front of the hotel has a daily market of antique books, prints, etc. There is a small police van and armed policeman in the square 24/7 which felt odd at first but then strangely comforting in these weird times. We decided it was because of the Villa Borghese (not the museum but the original Borghese home) in the square which apparently is now a very posh home to several wealthy people.

The hotel was quiet, clean and nicely decorated. The staff were extremely helpful with reservations and suggestions. Our double room including breakfast was $185.

Thank you, thank you for all of the suggestions - I told my husband I wouldn't stay in a hotel that wasn't recommended by someone . . . you all are great!
