Hotel Monge reply?

I booked the Hotel Monge through e-mail 5 days ago, giving all info including credit card number. I haven't received a confirmation, and have sent a polite enquiry if the booking info was received. I'm new to Europe, and wondered if this is a normal response time? Don't want to be too pushy or appear paranoid. Any advice from the seasoned travel people?

5 days without reply is too long. I would call the hotel. Maybe Julie is sick ?

I stayed at the Hotel Monge this past September and had no problems at all. Their response time was quick. I made reservation over the internet as well. I enjoyed my stay there very much and would book there again.

I just found this new site:
http://www.hotel-actev.com/

Evidently, Hotel Monge is now "Hotel Acte V".

Also:

If they changed the name of the hotel, they may also have changed their email address. I would definately telephone them ASAP.

I would also suggest checking your spam mail. And to send another inquiry using a different e-mail address.

This has happened to me before, I sent a request using AOL and never got a reply. I sent a follow-up using a different e-mail address - and included the original AOL mail. I was told that they had been trying to reply to me but the e-mail kept bouncing back. AOL was rejecting it. Another time, I found the replies in my SPAM folder.

Or you could try calling during the day (Paris time) and ask about it.

I stayed at the hotel Monge a couple of times and really liked it. The staff is so helpful, so I suspect this is an e-mail glitch with you.

It does look like the prices have jumped 20 Euros or more per night, compared to prices people were quoting a short time ago.

That's why I asked, WillTravel. But maybe it was because they were winter season prices. The prices Travelnut says are more or less the same of the website now.

I have just returned from a month apartment stay in Paris in the 4th quarter and walked by the Hotel Monge a week ago and noticed all the refreshments to the outside of the building.......now a three star hotel under new ownership.

For those who have stayed there, the breakfast room is now a hip bar all decked out in chocolate brown leather and individual bar tables. And they have painted the kinky little elevator a trendy designer inspired basic dark brown. How dull and un-mongey. I did not go up to see the up-dated rooms which warrant that rise in price from a 2 star to a 3 star.

I`d be interested to know what Julie and her husband are doing if anyone finds out.

By the way, spending mid Feb to mid March in Paris was absolutely wonderful and my kind of weather. Fresh for walking with touches of rain.
