Hotel Isartor
Hi, I've been reading up on everyone's recommendations for hotels on this site, and there is a wealth of knowledge here! Most of the hotels were a bit out of my price range, or not in the location I wanted. I finally found one that was available, close to my price range, and in the location I desired. I will be staying at the Hotel Isartor in Munich for 5 days this May. I was wondering if anyone on the Forum has had experiences there or with that particular area. I tried doing a search, but I didn't come up with anyone having stayed there.
I appreciate any comments you can give! Thanks!

I don't know the hotel but the IsarTor area is very convenient to the downtown Munich fussganger zone and should be a good base for seeing the city. It should also be convenient to the Deutsches Musuem area. With the U- and S- Bahns most of Munich is pretty easy to access.

StLgrrl,
Do you still need the info? You said you are staying there in May?
Anyway, I just walked past there a few nights ago - it's a quiet street at night, but walking distance to the city centre (Marienplatz). For a map view, have a look at this: http://stadtplan.portal.muenchen.de/...=461&num=2.
Never stayed there before so can't comment about the hotel itself. Enjoy Munich, cheers!

Hey, thanks Why8! I appreciate your information. I have a city map from last time I was over there, so I had a good idea of the location. Thanks for letting me know about the street and such. At least I know it is still there! Haha, after I told my mom no one on here had heard of/stayed there, she asked if I was sure it was real. No mom, it was a made up website, and now I'm out all that money.
Did you notice if there was a train or bus stop nearby? I thought there was, but, I'm not the best at reading maps.

There is a tram stop right there, with several tram lines stopping there.
Haven't stayed at the hotel, but it's been there for quite a while. You may wish to check the Red Michelin Guide for Deutschland to see if it is listed there. I'm a strong believer in the Michelin hotel ratings.

My pleasure.
There is a S-bahn (Subway) station "Isartor" just a few metres from the hotel.
For the Subway (S-bahn) and Underground (U-bahn) map for Munich, download one at this link: <http://live2.mvv-muenchen.de/en/home...index.html>
Whether you're flying into Munich or coming via train, you'll want to be near a S-bahn/U-bahn station, easier to move around the city.
Hope this helps!
