Hotel in London?
Does anyone know a decent, relatively centrally-located hotel or B&B in London that is under US$150 a night? It doesn't need to be deluxe, but clean, fairly quiet, and perhaps with some atmosphere? I was astonished at the poor value and high prices last time I was there. Thanks!

It depends on where you want to stay & what extras you want as to the price. We are staying at the Surtees near Victoria Station. It is 70 pounds a night for a double room with bath & continental breakfast. The neighborhood is central. While the area looks rather commercial the hotel looks welcoming on the website. Also check the British Tourist Authority site. They usually have info too.

Good luck.

Prices can vary depending on the time of the year or even the day of the week. We just stayed at the Rubens on the Palace, a 4* hotel across from Buckingham Palace for 99 Pounds including VAT and full English Breakfast. I found this on www.londontown.com.

Marilyn -

In March I stayed at the Comfort Inn Notting Hill, which was very convenient to shops, restaurants and 1/2 block to the Notting Hill tube station. It's just to the northwest of Hyde Park, close to Kensington Palace. I can't remember exactly what I paid but I'm pretty sure it was under $150/night. I would advise getting a double room, the single rooms are very small.
Martha
Marilyn,
I was in London in 1999 and stayed at the Blandford Hotel, which is located right off Baker Street and is an easy walk from the tube station on Baker Street. It's also close to Marylebone and Paddington rail stations. It's not fancy, but the rooms are clean and a huge breakfast is included in the price. I can't recall exactly what we paid for our room, but it was relatively inexpensive for a London hotel. I would definitely stay there again.
