looking for a hotel in London for 200 pound?
I will in London for new year and would like a hotel in London preferrably in the mayfair and knighstbridge area for 200 pounds. I would also be more than happy if breakfast comes with the price since I like to eat in the hotel rather than leave the hotel for a meal. Any suggestions?

Katja,

We stayed at the Knightsbridge Green Hotel around the corner from Harrods this past July for 180 pounds/night. It is a basic hotel, but has fine mattresses, decent sized bathrooms, and is about two blocks away from the Knightsbridge Station tube. I've also heard good things about The Claverly. For info on other hotels, I would certainly check Londontown.com. They often offer specials. Good luck!

In May, we stayed at the 4* Rubens-at-the-Palace Hotel across from Buckingham Palace. Got a fabulous rate on www.londontown.com that was 99 STG including breakfast. Don't know if you can find a rate that low but I have seen it for 123 STG recently. It is within walking distance to numerous sights and a couple of blocks from Victoria Station. Lots of restaurants and pubs in the area too. We did a lot of walking around at night and always felt safe.

The staff at the Rubens was very friendly and they have a huge English breakfast buffet. Our room wasn't huge, but it was very nicely furnished. We really liked this hotel and the location and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed at the Chelsea Green for five nights over two weekends. This place should be sold out every night, for the value alone. It is in a quiet neighborhood of Chelsea (really So Ken), less than five minutes walk from the So Ken tube. There are outstanding restaurants everywhere within a 10-15 minute walk. It is a 4****, with A/C and lift. We had a suite reserved for 150 GBP per night(which would have been a good deal), but then found the same room on laterooms.com for 110, a week before we left. They honored the rate! It is practically new inside, a beautiful conservatory for breakfast, free paper in the morning, and the suite was very nice sized for two. We arrived on my wife's birthday, and at my request, they had balloons strung up and flowers on the bed. Value like this in London is nearly impossible to find. Can't recommend it enough.
We loved The Beaufort Hotel! Spend 5 nights there. Feel free to e-mail if you want more information. You can visit their website at http://www.thebeaufort.co.uk/home.htm
