Hotel in Aix-en-Provence

Hello,

We plan to spend one night in Aix-en-Provence in July. Does anyone have suggestions for a hotel? I liked the description of Villa Gallici, but it is sold out.

In town or out?

City center or outside it?

An experience or a room for the night?

Bed and breakfast or full service?

Elevator?

Budget?

We stayed at Hotel des Augustins. It's a few yards above the Cours and a short block from the main circle fountain.

Excellent walking distnace to any part of town on either side of the cours.

Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at Le Pigonnet two years ago and loved it. It is a short walk from the city center, and definitely an "experience." Loved eating breakfast in their beautiful garden.

Have stayed twice at the Hotel des Quatre Dauphins a couple of blocks from the Cours. It is vertical and lacks a lift (**) but had plenty of charm in a very convenient location. I would also look into the Hotel Cardinale right round the corner.
