Hotel help in Paris
Leaving in a couple of weeks and still do not have a hotel. Any suggestions for about 2 0r 3 days centrally located as much as possible to see some of the sights. Price range is under $65 if possible. Only in Paris for a short while before I leave for India.

In the Marais, which is my favorite part of Paris, you have a couple of choices about ten bucks over your budget. The Marais is extremely well located for many of the major sights of Paris.

1. Hotel du 7E Art, 20 rue St. Paul
Doubles starting at 75 Euros a night

2. Hotel Jeanne d'Arc, 3 rue de Jarente, doubles starting around 78 Euros a night.

And for about twenty more Euros,

Hotel Beaumarchais, 3 rue Oberkampf.

The Marais isthe funky part of Paris- what the Left Bank used to be, and still is in parts. You'll find plenty of places to grab a cheap bite like Fleurs de Thym ( Lebanese) or L'Enoteca, for great Italian trattoria style food or Vins des Pyrenees, 25 rue Beautrellis, for casual French and a smoky bar.
From Places des Vosges, you're only about a ten minute walk from the Seine, maybe fifteen to Notre Dame.
Really a wonderful area, full of small boutiques and art galleries, designers, etc.
Have a great time!
I'm not familiar with the hotels recommended so far except Beaumarchais, but I hope you know that for $65 or so per night you will definitely have no A/C, perhaps no elevator, and perhaps no ensuite bathroom. At the time of year you will be there, A/C isn't needed anyway; but you might want to ask about the other amenities and pick the hotel that has the most for the money. Good luck.

Since you are leaving in only two weeks (!!), I strongly suggest you use the www.ParisHotels.com website already mentioned by DougP, since it allows you to search for availability by dates. It has a good selection of buget choices.

Once you've narrowed things down, try text searching here by hotel name; for example: "champs de mars AND paris" to find loads of feedback.

I would recommend the L'Athenee hotel as a good budget choice. It is pretty basic but clean and comfortable the staff are very nice and helpful. It has an elevator, tv in the room and your own bathroom. It's off Rue Des Capucines on the same street as the Olympia theatre and a short walk to Madeleine Metro station. I would definitely stay there again as it is so central to all the sights.
