Hotel Danieli in Venice-too noisy?

We were considering staying at Hotel Danieli in Venice but concerned if it is too noisy a location? We LOVE the Europa & Regina but wanted to try the Danieli for a change of scenery. We'll only be there 1 night (Monday night 9/30/03) before boarding a ship and will be redeeming Starwood Points.

The Danieli might be more noisy than the Regina because it has some boat-stops right in front and lots of people walking by all the time, even walking dowm the side-street, so be sure to ask for a quiet room

Hi,

You are wondering whether a 5* hotel that charges 400E/nite will be noisy?

I am reminded of "The Princess and the Pea".

Thanks, don't mean to sound like the princess and the Pea...certainly NOT. I'm just wondering if some of the rooms within this hotel are real noisy. I know it's in a busy area, that's fine. In fact since we'll only be there 1 night, I want to be in the "Times Square" of Venice. It's just that when we go to bed after a very long connecting flight from Los Angeles, I'm hoping for a quiet location WITHIN the hotel. I guess I didn't make myself too clear. I understand some of the rooms have balconys which sounds great. I'd hope it's not so noisy outside that you couldn't open the doors if you're lucky enough to have a balcony.

i think it's a fair question given that it's located at a busy locale w/ lots of people and vaporettos...a hotel charging an exorbitant amt doesn't necessarily guarantee that heavy panel windows could reduce the noise completely...when i stayed near at rialto, the vaporettos were definitely louder than i thought...

Hi petlover, was just there a few weeks ago and it wasn't too noisy. You could definitely tell when it was daylight but was perfectly quiet at night but for a few groups that had a little too much to drink. It was pretty settled down by around 11 or so. The beauty makes up for any mild outside noises you may hear. Go for it!

Hi

I had a room facing the side street.
Don't remember it being noisy at all.

Stayed last year, and don't remember it being noisy at all, even though we had a room at the front. However, next time I would probably go for the Gritti or the Europa & Regina. We had dinner at the Danieli, and thought the restaurant was awful. We couldn't sit outside (that might have been nicer) and inside had no atmosphere at all. Both the Gritti and the Europa & Regina have wonderful restaurants, with a terrace right on the Grand Canal.

We stayed in a front room and had no problem with noise. The windows had heavy exterior shutters which could be closed to cut out the light if you want a short cat-nap in daylight after your flight.

We loved the hotel; we were there in Nov. 2000 when the highwater in Venice was higher than anytime since the 60's. It was amazing to see the hotel go into action to roll up carpets, pile furniture to the ceiling, etc. to counter the couple feet of water which came into the lobby.

Why don't you try the Gritti? It is also a Starwood property and it is certainly in a quieter location
