hotel brighton in paris

anyone stayed at hotel brighton in the first? They've been renovating and we would like to be sure we aren't competing with hammers, etc. Comments please?

Hi Frank. I stayed at the Brighton last September. They were renovating when I was there and never heard a hammer once. I would think by now renovations would be complete.

I was very fortunate to have a large room, high ceilings fantastic view of Tuileries Gardens, Louvre, Musee de Orsay, Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower and Arc de trioumph.

Since I traveled by myself it was a good location. Not everyone agrees with me. But it was near so many things. I started every morning at the Tuileries Gardens feeding the birds, meditating then getting on with my day.

Frank

We stayed there for a night or two several years ago. It is as Karen writes, big rooms (for Paris) & a new marble bath with a great view of the Tuileries etc.

My only real complaint was the tourist hell right outside the lobby. It is a tour bus dropoff with lots of ticky-tacky stores lining the Rue de Rivoli. And the Rivoli is very busy - motorbikes & buses etc.

The heavy windows did shut out the noise in the room tho, so all was well when inside.

All in all, we prefer to stay deep in the 5th or 6th across the river.

Frank - I forgot to mention that at the Brighton there are some very small rooms also. Those you want to avoid. It's worth the extra money to have a large room. Mine had equavelent of a California King-sized bed, 2 end tables 2 desks a large armoire, marble fireplace with gold gilded mirror above it, leather chair and a desk chair with plenty of room to move around. The double French doors did block out the sound which really didn't bother me. I wasn't in my room that much.

I kind of like the activity. My bathroom also had a marble tub. Large bathroom also. Little entryway leading into my bedroom. I have no complaints

Can you tell if you indeed visited the Brighton? If so can you tell me about your visit? Room, condition of hotel, cost and anything that you loved or disliked about this hotel? Thanks!
