Hoping to stay cool this summer - any comments on my northern itinerary?

<<Also, recommendations for good food that won't break the bank, if that is even possible in Scandinavia.>> Contrary to advice given by tourists on this board, it is possible to find reasonably priced food, yes even in Scandinavia, at least in Denmark and Sweden. Norway is another story.
Alot of bakeries sell open sandwiches etc, alot of supermarkets have a hot counter where you can get things like fiskefrikadeller with remoulade sauce to take out. The top floor of Magasin du Nord department store in Copenhagen has a restaurant where you can buy 2 or 3 open sandwiches with a drink for a very reasonable price. You also get the view of the Opera House if you sit by the windows. Cafe Sorgenfri is very reasonable (CPH) http://www.cafesorgenfri.dk/.
If you venture northwards from CPH to somewhere like Gilleleje (the north coast in Sjælland is really beautiful), you can get a reasonably priced lunch at one of the restaurants at the fishing port.
At Helsingoer, you can take the ferry across to Sweden as a foot passenger, and have the buffet lunch on board, which is cheap. Although the ferry only takes 15 mins, people stay on board, back and forth enjoying their lunch or just drinking at the bar. The Aurora is the one to take for lunch, the other ferries have different things, like jazz evenings etc. If you do not get off in Sweden, it becomes cheaper, just ask for the lunch ticket.

Talking about ferries, I have just discovered that the train I plan to take from Lubeck to Copenhagen actually gets put on a ferry for part of the trip! The train I took to Sicily at the other end of the continent did that, I hadn't realized there was another train that got ferried.
Have booked my Potsdam hotel, (not the one I thought of first) and am now wondering whether to book Sans Souci for morning or afternoon.
Any more suggestions for Berlin hotels?
