Hidden Hotel Gem in Rome?
Looking for a hotel in Rome. Would love to find a centrally-located (eg walk to sights, shopping, etc) that is inexpensive ($120US or so a night/GBP 75ish) but clean, comfortable, friendly and own bathroom.
There must be some family-run establishments that folks have stayed in and loved, right? Well, pass 'em on!
thx.

I suggest you use an "engine" such as venere.com or the search feature here to start considering hotels and then ask about specific ones.
As to "walking to sites"...the notion of what is "walkable" in Rome on this board seems to vary considerably. Some people woulnd't be caught dead more than three feet from the Spanish Steps or the Navonna..both of which get clogged with tourists, including yourself if you stay there.
And why does the place you stay have to be "family-run"???? or is that one of your definitions of "gem?"

had the pleasure of staying there twice and they were bothe inexpensive quite clean and with your own bathroom with tub and shower.
decent continental breakfast and a nice small and cozy bar area. walking distance to all of shopping areas, plus great bus service
