rome -- decided to look for hotel in the center of rome... close to sites -- please help with hotel recommedations.
my husband and i decided to stay in the center of rome, near the touristy sites but i need some help with hotels.
i am looking at all the reviews on venere / trip advisor / fodors
but i am just more confused.
what i'm looking for:
-price = 160 euros max
-clean
-private bathroom
-short walking distances to site
-many quaint restaurants and cafes
thanks for your help
also it is our first time in rome.

Try the Hotel Panda, which is a stone's throw from the Spanish Steps, and convenient for walking all over the city. Website is www.hotelpanda.it. We stayed there our first time in Rome, found it easy to locate, very enjoyable, clean. Would definitely stay again.

Try Hotel Julia - they might give you a discount on a long stay (better than the Venere rates).

That will meet your requirements, but the room will not be large or luxurious.
They also have adjacent apartments.

(Not sure if I already recommended this hotel to you - ignore if this is a duplicate.)

I'd recommend Residenza Cellini which is close to the train station. We stayed there a couple of weeks ago and found it to be within walking distance to all the major sites (except the Vatican/St. Peters but it's close to the subway). We paid 155 Euro a night for a junior suite with a jacuzzi tub.
