Hidden Hotel Gem in Rome?

Looking for a hotel in Rome. Would love to find a centrally-located (eg walk to sights, shopping, etc) that is inexpensive ($120US or so a night/GBP 75ish) but clean, comfortable, friendly and own bathroom.

There must be some family-run establishments that folks have stayed in and loved, right? Well, pass 'em on!

thx.

I suggest you use an "engine" such as venere.com or the search feature here to start considering hotels and then ask about specific ones.

As to "walking to sites"...the notion of what is "walkable" in Rome on this board seems to vary considerably. Some people woulnd't be caught dead more than three feet from the Spanish Steps or the Navonna..both of which get clogged with tourists, including yourself if you stay there.

And why does the place you stay have to be "family-run"???? or is that one of your definitions of "gem?"

Hi PC,

Have you entered "Rome and Hotel" in the "search this forum" box?

Also, it might be helpful to know which month you're planning your trip, as hotel rates vary during "high season", "off season" and "shoulder season".

The Casa Il Rosario convent would work for all the features you want, but it has a curfew (23:20, I think).
