Help me decide, What to do, post cruise stockholm
I will be doing a 14 day Baltic cruise with my teenage children in July. We have 6 days between the cruise and the time that we meet up with my husband and a group of friends to travel around Scotland.

We are looking into options to fill that time. Both the cruise and the Scotland trip will be quite hectic so we are looking for something that is a bit more relaxing.I was keen on doing a cruise of the fjords where we could sit back, relax and watch the fjords go by.I am looking into those options.

I am open to any other suggestions as to how to fill these days.

Should we stay on in Stockholm for a few days and if we move on, where should we go to? Is it easy to get around for an English speaker? Is there some area that we could go and have a relaxing few days while enjoying the scenery? Please help.

Thanks Grandma and Boots, I'm going to look into your recommendations. If anyone has other advice, keep it coming.

Has anyone spent a few days at Visby? Someone said in another post, that it is popular with beachgoers. Is that true? Isn't the water very cold there.?I wouldn't mind relaxing on a beach somewhere.

We just spent a day on Visby while on a Baltic cruise. It was mid June but the atmosphere still seemed "off season." I think it is more of a sailing place than a beach. Visby's atmosphere sort of reminded me of Nantucket. (without the beaches -

Waverley: The little walled village of Visby is fantatstic; much in the way of medieval architecture, thw wall itself, a really fun harbor scene, quaint shops and cafes, great restaurants, wonderful seaviews, great biking and hiking and even more. Visby was one of the highlights of our Scandinavian vacation two years ago and we recommend it to everyone going to Scandinavia. From, Stockholm, you can get there by "fast ferry"in about two and a half hours.
Be sure to spend some time in Stockholm. It is a marvelous city. Three days in Stockholm and three in Visby would be perfect. I am sure your teenagers will really enjoy the Vasa Museum. It contains an actual ship from the 1600s in very good repair. Amazing!. Have a great trip.
If you are set on the fjords, you can overnight train to Oslo, see the city and then take the all day "Nutshell" tour. This is not laid back relaxation. It can be pretty hectic, but a wonderful experience. Just do a search on "Nutshell". Have a great trip.

Thanks Grandma and joegri. I did an accommdation search on Visby and according to Orbitz, everything was full. I'm not sure if it is actually full or if it is just such a popular time to travel that the hotels do not deal with Orbitz. I will definitely try to include a trip to Visby. It sounds great. Although I had better nto tell my kids it is like Nantucket. Our trip there was not one of their favorites. It was 100 degrees and they were just too hot to want to do any sightseeing. Which we did nevertheless.

I am also looking into the Hurtigruten or Bergen line fjord cruises up the fjords. There seem to be 5- 7 day cruises on modern cruise ships. That sounds very appealing. So appealing that my husband is even thinking of coming early to join us. Hopefully that won't be full already.

Thanks for replying. If anyone has anything to add, all responses are appreciated.
