Help! Do we spend more than day in Munich on a tight schedule?

We're spending 15 days in Germany and Czech (Frankfort on business, Rothenburg, Munich, Prague, Berlin and Hamburg) and my husband only wants one day/night in Munich - how many do we really need?? Aren't we short changing ourselves in Munich? Please, any responses at all are appreciated!

I would spend all of the time in Munich. Cutting anytime in Munich is like cutting time out of Eden.

IMO yes, you're shortchanging yourselves. But then Munich is one of our favorite cities. We don't like to stay less than 3, just too much to see, do and enjoy from Deutsches Museum, to Alte Pinakothek, to Schloss Nymphenburg, the Englischer Garten, to Dachau, etc..

It is all relative--Munich is not as attractive as Prague to me.

As others have said, there is quite a bit to see in Munich and with only 1 day, you can basically just hit a couple main sights and be on your way. I'd be inclined to save Munich for another trip and add more time to the other destinations rather than just rush through.

Hi Jamn,
You may want to read through this if you haven't already picked it up on the Trip Report board.

Why Hamburg? You will be relatively close to Munich in Prague and Berlin, and it seems easier to do Hamburg. I concur with the others that Munich deserves much more than one day.

Hi J,
Figuring 3 days for business, you are visiting 5 towns in 12 days?

I strongly urge you to reconsider this expedition.

Munich in a day is a waste of time and energy. This city has been getting better by the year and deserves more. Would you recommend that someone spend one day in New York? No. November moon has the right idea: come back with more time on your hands. Munich has been around since 1158, it'lll be around a while yet... Enjoy the trip!
