Please tell us:
Do you want one or two rooms?
How much do you want to spend total?
When are you going and for how long?
If you plan on all four using one room, what bed arrangement do you need.
"outrageously expensive" means different things to different people.
I think a really nice hotel in Paris for $400 is expensive, but not outrageous, do you?
Would you be more willing to spend $150 US per room for two rooms, or are you thinking more of something like all four in one room for $100?
The Hôtel Duquesne in the 7me has quads and chambres communicantes (two double rooms sharing a hallway)for about $160-$180. The Hotel de France, also in the 7me, also has a quad (just one, and it books pretty far in advance) for about $130. We've stayed in both and enjoyed both very much.

One or two rooms would be fine. We are going for one week in September. Two twins and one double bed would be perfect. I agree that $400/night is not outrageously expensive in Paris and we would be willing to pay that.

We checked Relais Christine and it was going to be $700/night which my husband balked at. Your accommodation at Relais Christine sounds perfect and extraordinary for Paris.

Thanks for the additional information. I am not real familiar with rooms that accomodate four people, but I suspect that most rooms that have two twins plus a double are going to be pretty cramped for four people, unless you can find something wonderful like that deal at Relais Christine. Oddly enough, I thought even a standard twin room there was closer to $400, so a rate of 2300 francs for that two bedroom "townhouse" sounds like the deal of the century.

I'd suggest two deluxe rooms at Le Regent on Dauphine. Both rooms will be fairly large and you'll have the added benefit of two bathrooms. The total for the two deluxe rooms will be about
$360 US. Be sure to request two rooms next to each other. I don't believe they have any that actually connect, but each floor will have two deluxe rooms right next to each other on the front of the building.
