Going on company trip to Rome - need help with hotel

Hi

It looks like I'm going on a company trip to Rome together with my unit in October  I went to Rome in July last year but I don't have anything against visiting the city again. But I need some help with hotel so if you have any recommendations now is the time to speak up We are about 17 that are going so we need about 17 rooms I guess We would like to stay in the city center for easy access to the sights. We need a hotel which has a conferance room because we are going to talk shop too of course. In connection with the conferance room we need a projector (?) so that we can hook up a PC and display info in a larger scale. We will be bringing lots of laptops so it is great if the hotel has some sort of safe where we can store the PCs while we are out sightseeing.

What about restaurants? Got any recommendations for a larger group?

Regards
Gard

Although I cannot answer this from any truly comparable experience, the first place I would check, off the top of my head... is Minerva.

I'll be interested to see what other answers you get.

Best wishes,

Rex

You might contact the Rome Tourist Office and ask for a list of centrally located hotels that offer complete business services and conference rooms. They should be able to send that to you immediately (since many hotels won't qualify).

Generally you're going to have to look at larger and more upscale places to get those services.

Although I have no first hand knowledge...in researching my upcoming trip I checked out the Hotel Ponte Sisto. It is a good size hotel with conference facilities (at least from the pictures on their website). The rooms were very reasonably priced as well (for Rome and in the central area).

Hi, Gard.I feel like I know you and your wife from looking at your website, seeing your photos, reading your reports.

Have you been to Ristorante dar Pallaro? It's very cheap(20 euro per person for everything) for a wonderful home-style meal. It's not a large place, but if you reserve ahead, they could probably accomodate a large party like yours.I've seen large groups when I've been there.Like having dinner at Mamma's!

It's a couple of jagged steps from Campo dei Fiori.

try www.romaturismo.com and you will be able to filter your choices by price, amenities, location, etc. You are sure to come up with something. I seem to remember that there were several nicer, larger hotels near the university. Not walking distance to the "sights" like the Trevi, but presumably you'll be arranging some transportation and organized outings for these people. I think one of the hotels was the Laurence? It looked very nice both on the website and from the outside, but we did not end up staying there.

I have to agree that Da Pallaro is a fun and inexpensive restaurant. The owners make everyone feel very welcome and serve a Roman style meal of five courses with a bottle of house wine in an unlabeled bottle. You need a good map to find this place. The meal was 42E for two.

Hi Gard. Jolly Hotels is a business class chain in Italy. I have stayed at a couple of their properties in Rome and they would certainly be able to accomodate your group's needs. Probably the most central one is Jolly Hotel Leonardo DaVinci, east of the Vatican. I was just there in May and enjoyed my stay. Great buffet breakfast. Their website has a 'cost estimate' page for conventions that lets you pick the number of bedrooms, conference rooms, layout, etc. that you require.

Gard - I too have enjoyed your trip reports and photos. thank you for sharing with us. There is a hotel called Albergo del Senato which is literally next door to the Pantheon. It isn't cheap and I don't know what your companies budget would be for it. A lot of Fodorites have recommended this hotel

Does the Albergo del Senato even have 17 rooms?

PS...

Please post back and let me know if you'll do decide on the Grand Palazzo Carpegna, and what dates you'll be there.

We are there from the 12th to the 14th of October. If you're there at the same time, maybe we can meet for drinks at the hotel bar...a mini-GTG!?

Hi

Thanks for the feedback so far. The plan is to head to Rome from the 7th to the 10th of October by the way.

We were hoping to find a hotel where the rooms are about 125 €.

I attended a seminar in Rome last year with a group based in US. We stayed at the Hotel Quirinale. There were 100 in attendance and the hotel did a wonderful job of accommodating us. Elegant conference rooms, very good restaurant/bar and full breakfast buffet. Staff was very helpful. Location was also good. Within walking distance of most attractions. While your group is considerably smaller, the hotel should certainly be able to handle it. Our only complaint was that single supplement people were given very small rooms - but that's not terribly unusual. The double rooms were very nice. You can get a lot of info from their web site which I don't have handy. If you type in the hotel name you should have no problem finding it.
