Glasgow Hotels

I am going to Scotland the end of this month. I would appreciate any suggestions for hotels in Glasgow? What about the Buchanan Hotel? Thanks in advance.

Sheila's right - need a budget! There are a huge number in Glasgow from the budget to the expensive of varying quality. I've stayed in the Holiday Inn - much like others, but is quite central - friends have stayed in the Malmaison - excellent but expensive.

Off the top of my head, I think the Buchanan Hotel is at the top of Buchanan Street (that is, the tube station / concert hall end.) When I lived in Glasgow a few years back it didn't look up to much, the building was pretty shabby, but since then they have redeveloped that end of the street and built a huge shopping mall (Buchanan Galleries) so it may have improved.

I used priceline.co.uk, and got a Marriott in Glasgow for 50 pounds (for two of us). Good location--nothing too exciting nearby, but a very easy walk into the central shopping area. The hotel was fine. The rooms were pretty small, but it did the job.

I'll be travelling to Glasgow next March on business --company paying = price not really an object. Unlike many, I don't want to stay in a 'quaint B & B, or older hotel'. Does anyone know of any of the newer/cutting edge type that would be located centrally?? Also of any of the 'hot' restaurants, as I'll be doing some entertaining in the area.
Thanks

There's a new place- the Art House-(Chelsea Clinton stayed there recently) which is getting a great name. Personally, and even tho' it's a bit further out, I wouldn't go past One Devonshire Gardens, if someone else was paying.

Both have great restaurants themselves. Apart from them try Nairn's, Rogano or The Ubiquitous Chip to eat in.

Thanks for the quick response. I tried One Deveonshire and they are fully booked-- but was able to get ArtHouse at 140 for a junior suite! (Not bad considering what my company is used to paying in London).
