germany trip suggestions?
We are taking my parents to Germany for first two weeks of April. We will fly into Frankfort, stay four nights outside of Munich, Germering at the Guest House Paintner, and then we have a night without accomodations before our time share in Hungary, outside of Prague begins. We would like to explore Bavaria to see my Dad's relatives and Austria, then go to Venice for two days. We are renting a car, any suggestions on how we should do this trip or where to stay in Austria or Venice?

I'm completely confused. Perhaps you could relist this by day so we can understand.
First - is your time share in Hungary - or near Prague - it can;t be both.
And do you want to go to Venice and Austria after Prague - or before - or while in Munich - this just isn;t clear.

Right, it is confusing. We fly into Frankfort on the 4th, stay in Germering until the morning of the 8th. We don't have accomodations for the night of the 8th, and then on the 9th we have a time share in Cserszegtomaj, Hungary, we check out on the 16th. We fly out of frankfort on the 18th and want to find a place for the 16th & 17th. We would like to see Venice and spend two days there, we thought of doing this once we are in time share, just use that as a home base and travel to Venice for two days. We couldn't get a timeshare in Germany or Austria, so had to take Hungary. We would like suggestions of what to see and how to get to Venice by car.

For routing, try www.viamichelin.com
It's a long drive from Cserszegtomaj to Venice--essentially a full day of driving as you'd need to stop for meals, fuel stops, etc.

How exciting could 4 days in Germering be ;-). You could visit the McDonalds or shop for groceries at AEZ. Wow... Ive never heard of any foreigner wanting to spend a night in Germering. Its hard to find a more boring place. (Im from the vicinity ;-) But anyway this is real germany with not many tourist around...

Guest House Paintner: Ive just had a look at their homepage. I really dont want to say a bad word about them, its just... the location sucks! To far from the station. The images on their hompage might give you the impression of a traditional bavarian guest house somewhere in the mountains...
This is suburbia, NOTHING old. A house like this in suburban munich makes me shiver..., sick...

Thank you for the advise on the routing RufusTfirefly, it will come in handy. I know it is a long trip, but we couldn't get timeshare in Germany or Austria, the two places we plan on spending most of our time in, researching relatives. The Venice trip, is something my husband really wants to do. I appreciate logos999 concern, my father's family is Paintner, and from Germering, so we wanted to research relatives. Hopefully we will have some luck and see some of Germany at the same time, since Munich isn't that far. I am interested in knowing what sights in Munich to see and in Austria.

You are trying to see and do way too much in way too short a time! Getting to Venice takes a LONG time like some aforementioned author said. Don't forget, it takes MUCH more time to tavel about over there than it does here in the US. We drive in Germany, Austria and Italy every year at least twice/year and it isn't as easy as it might seem. I'd say forget Venice for this trip and concentrate on Bavaria. It will take all day to just get to your timeshare. How is the timeshare in Hungary, just outside of Prague? Austria and Slovakia separate Hungary from the Czech Republic! Budapest and Prague are at least 7 hours from each other via car!
