Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Prague and??

We will be gone the whole month of may. Where else should we go? We would like to do one more countries or 2 more big cities.
Also our main interests are seeing the historical and well known sites.
is train travel easy in this region?
We Have been all over, the England, Frances, italy, greece, turkey, ireland, scotland

Can you set up a sample iten for us? We really have no idea what to see in the cities or what cities to see but we will do it all on our own. I know its not specific. but just tell us what you recommend.
thanks
we havent set a budget so dont factor that in

We can't really tell you what YOU will enjoy doing. Suggest you get some guidebooks and read them - and some tour ooks and look at the pix for what YOU must do.

Then people can help you string together the places you want to see.

Train is good for travel between major cities. If you want to see countryside and smaller towns youmight consider a road trip (we always do) - since it gives you much more freedom.

Andyou could easily spend the whole month in Germany - if you want to see Berlin, Muich, the Black Forest the Rhineland etc.

And budget does matter a lot - unless yours is unlimited.

When trying to get an idea of where I want to go, I like to watch travel shows on the area and see what piques my interest. I watch them on hulu, get them from the library, or whatever. It is really helpful.

We took a 2 week trip a few years back that focused just on Bavaria and northern Austria - Munich, Nuremburg, Rothenburg, Dinklesbuhl, Fuessen, Oberambergau, and Reutte. It was great. We stayed in Munich, Nuremburg, and Reutte, taking day trips to the other places.

We are leaving soon on another 2 week trip to Germany and Czech Republic this time. We are focusing on beer for this trip - Bamberg, Aufsess, Ingolstadt, Munich, Prague, and Pilsen are on the itinerary.

You can easily spend your entire month in Germany. It's a big country and quite diverse. For example: 1 week in the Rhine/Mosel region, 10 days in Bavaria, 7-10 days in Berlin & surrounding area.

As persons who seemed to have traveled extensively, you should know what you like. That would allow you to read guidebooks with a discerning eye.
