Flooding in Germany

Help! We are supposed to leave on 8/26 for a trip to Southern Germany (Munich/Reutlingen) and then to Prague. Does anyone know whether Munich and surrounding areas are out of commission? And for how long?

See the postings on Prague. The Czech Government is advising all tourists to stay away due to the very serious flooding right now. A lot of the city is under water now and many people have had to leave their homes.

My co-worker's mother lives in Kiev and mentioned to her that Berlin is affected. Didn't hear about Munich though.

If you go to the news web sites (CNN, MSNBC, USA Today--Europe Edition),, there are more details on the flooding situation in areas other than just Prague.

Example: Passau (about 70 northeast of Munich, along the Danube)---the old town is submerged.

I would invest in a phone call to the tourist office in Munich, as well as the other towns you plan on visiting on your holdiay, to determine from someone "on the scene" what the situation is in their location.
