French Riviera hotel with view around $200?

I'm starting to really worry here. Our trip is in just three weeks and no hotel yet. What I'm looking for is a good quality hotel with water view. We were thinking the Antibes area would be good for touring from. I was hoping to keep the cost to around $200 USD per night. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, all.

I think the problem is that September is still high tourist season along the Riveria. And $200 may be a bit low for a hotel with a water view, but you could try The Hotel Welcome in Villefranche, or, if you'd give up the water view, Hotel Le Grimaldi in Nice, which should be within your budget and is only a few blocks in from the water.

The La Peruse (spelling may be wrong) in Nice has views in that price range. Right on the water at the end of the Ave. de Anglaise where it curves around the point heading toward the port. Pool too. Very nice, enjoyable spot.

If you want a fabulous view of the coast try Les Deux Freres in Roquebrune. Ask for the Brides Room. I am not sure it will be available this late but it has a gorgeous view.

La Peruse > La Pérouse

September is still a high season (I think) and get a room with a view at the price there would be (if not impossible), very hard.

Ok, probably impossible. Special promotional rate for a Superieure Sea View Room With Terrace on their site is €300 (USD 375) and that does not include breakfast nor taxes.

You could try the Mercure Promenade des Anglais, a member of the Accor Hotels group. Some of the rooms have sea views, and the price is probably within your budget.

If you'd like a distant sea view, many of the rooms at the delightful hotel Le Hameau--near St-Paul-de-Vence--have views across the valley to the Mediterranean.

Two possibilities so far. Looking for opinions, please. Hotel La Flore, in Villefranche at 132 euros a night or Le Grand Pavois (A Best Western property) in Juan Les Pins at 170 euro including full breakfast. Thanks, guys.

The Michelin hotel guide gives the Flore a good rating, and I've seen strong recommendations for the hotel. There's no listing in the guide for Le Grand Pavois, which doesn't mean it's necessarily bad, just not a hotel chosen by Michelin to recommend.

Juan les Pins can be a pretty noisy scene--if you'd like something calmer, I'd pick the Flore.

I'm staying at Le Grand Pavois as i write this. The hotel is quiet and cleanin an old building and was refurbished in 2001,so they say. It's not a seafront hotel but you have a partial seaview -at least i have from my suite.Check this site :
http://www.hotel-legrandpavois.com/
On your left side there's "visite virtuelle"click on that and then on the dropdown menu in the suite. It's pretty accurate.
One more thing i just got a good deal at priceline uk.Tried some random dates, as you said you're leaving in a couple of weeks, and a suite came out at 153 Euros a night.
This is just my opinion but Juan les Pins is quite naff.
Forgot to tell you that the only thing bad about this hotel are the towels...sand paper type.
Hope this helps.
Have a great trip

Stayed at Hotel La Flore. Room was small, which we expected, but the terrace outside was roomy enough with an umbrellaed table and chairs. The view was beautiful. Staff for the most part were wonderful. Our air conditioning wasn't working for the whole stay, and it was pretty warm in the room. After the first restless night, I was told I could borrow the standing fan from the front lobby area each evening. Well, the evening front desk man didn't like that, and one night told he he'd been in my room, that it wasn't hot in there, and that I didn't need the fan...he did! I also have to say that the tile in the bathroom had a good 1/2 inch layer of dust along the entire length of the top of it. I ended up wetting a towel and cleaning it off myself.

Well I second La Perouse in Nice. We like Nice better than Antibes. We booked through www.francejourneys.com. Any cities Nice, Antibes, Cannes etc will make touring easy.
