France Itinerary

Hello! My husband and I are visiting France this summer with our 4 kids (12, 13, 14, 16). We fly into Paris and out of London (only way we could do it w/ FF miles), arriving 7/8 & departing 7/16 (8 nights total). We've been to London twice before, so we really don't need to spend any time there. My original plan was 7 nights in Paris, 1 in London. But now I'm thinking 7 nights in Paris is too much. I thought about going down to the French Riviera for 3 nights, but have no idea where to stay (Nice?). Is the Riviera too far to fit into a short trip? Any other suggestions for areas in France that would be good for 2-3 nights w/ teens? Thank you!!!

Hi jm,

>now I'm thinking 7 nights in Paris is too much.<

Go back to your original plan, except make it 2 nights in London and 6 in Paris.

You don't need to be schlepping grouchy, grumpy, unhappy kids all over Europe.

The kids might like www.arts-et-metiers.net

Enjoy your visit.

ditto what Ira said. 6 nights gives you 5 days. if you've never been to Paris, you'll find loads to do, and if you did get bored, there's always Versailles for a day trip.

here's some ideas to get you started:

have a great time,

Paris to Nice is about 6 hours on the train plus time at either end to get to train station/hotel.

6 or 7 nights in Paris is not too much time - there is so much to do. There are plenty of day trips you can take outside the city or spend an afternoon in one of the many parks.

If you really want to leave Paris for a couple of nights, Bayeux for the D Day beaches would be interesting.

If staying in Paris, from a previous trip report:

"Musée des Arts et Métiers: The Sunday brunch, all you can eat, costs 15€ per person including juices, bottled water and coffee, but excluding wine. It is quite nice, with a variety of salads, cold cuts and pastries."

The science museum in La Villette might be of interest, and perhaps also the music museum on the other side of the same park.

Nice is too far to go with your very limited times. I would do a couple of day trips from Paris (thre are a ton of good ones) or spend one day in London catching up.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm going to go with 6 nights in Paris, 2 in London. Michael, thanks for the brunch tip. I'm definitely looking for ways to feed 4 teens inexpensively!

The brunch price is only worthwhile if you intend to visit the museum anyway. There is still the entrance fee to be paid.
