I've just updated my page on HTML formatting in Fodor's posts, to account for the new "Preview" function. From what I've seen so far, it works even better than the old Preview. You no longer need to click "Edit" to make changes - you just make them right on the preview screen. An obscure error of the old Preview function (converting Named Entities into the character they represent) has been eliminated. It's very well done. Thanks, Fodor's.

Thanks so much. I've long wondered about how to change the text to bold, italics, etc...now I have a tip sheet!
Can you can tell me how to change to bold and italic, and underlined, on a Word document on a Mac?
Gratefully,
A Computer Naif

The formatting page being discussed is at:

Most of the information you need is summarized in the first table.
I hope nobody is mislead by my old Comcast address at the top of this thread, from when it was first posted almost five years ago. I don't know of any way to go back and change it now that I have a new domain name.
ekscrunchy, sorry, I've never used a Mac. Apple always tells us that on a Mac, everything is obvious.
On a PC, in Word, you just highlight whatever you want to change to bold, and click big <b>B</b> at the top on the "Formatting toolbar", or you can pull down the "Format" menu, select "Font ...", and make your selection there. Since Microsoft stole all this stuff from Apple, I imagine it's not that different on a Mac.

Larry, thank you for a very helpful tool. I did get tossed to the error page when trying the original url. Luckily I continued to read and found the new url.
Maybe a new post with the correct link would be helpful as it would be at the top of the page for those with less time to peruse a thread to it's conclusion. You might also include the link to this post for all the added information in the replies.
Not implying you need to do this, just a suggestion as a way to get the needed url to the top for new searches, etc. Again, thank you for posting this and for bringing it back up for current searchers.
