Thanks so much for reposting this. I've often used italics, bold and underlined, but never knew how to do color text, or some of the other special characters. Appreciate it.

As in 22°? I don't use the methods listed above when I'm on a laptop which is most of the time. I use the function key with the code number. If you are on a laptop, make sure your number lock is on (should be key in upper right corner that has a picure of a lock and you will see a light on in the top row of your computer with a 1 above it). Hold the function key (lower left corner - says fn) and hold the alt key while typing 0176 (don't use the number keys at the top of your keyboard- use the ones on the m,j,k,l,u,i,o,7,8,9,0) and release. Then you have your degree symbol.
Euro - fn+alt+0128 = €
I can make all kinds of things not listed above.

Sorry, I know I'm dense about this. But if I want to type, e.g., 130 euros, I type 130 &deg? Of it I want 141 degrees F, I type 141 &deg F? Or is there something more to it?

The codes have a semicolon at the end. So 130 Euros is written <b>130&amp;euro;</b> and 141 Degrees is written <b>141:amp;deg;</b>

It was 141&deg;F on the court during Serena Williams' Australian Open match tonight, before they closed the roof.

Previewed above. It worked.

Yippee. And thanks!

Since this post was first published, I've relocated my web site. It can now be found at:

http://ljkrakauer.com/tags.htm

But <b>caution!</b> The new Fodors Forum format may have invalidated some of the advice given on that page. In particular, for the moment, at least, you can't preview your post before submitting it. That means that in using these HTML formatting tools, if you make an error, you won't discover it until it's too late to call it back.

So I hope that the word "caution!" above is in bold-face, as I intended. I won't know until after I submit this reply.

<i> TESTING </i>
<font color="red"> Is this red?</font>

Downside to the new look in this forum is they've neglected to include a preview option before hitting submit button. I'm sure that'll get corrected.

So Larry, why didn't you offer your services to Fodor's when they "revamped" the site?

You mean they had that entire color palette available and we got stuck with the sunburn pink? I feel like I need to Nivea the screen every time I log on.
