Your question is very general, and there isn't much information about your interests, so it's hard to give a meaningful response. I'd recommend checking Brussels attractions on TripAdvisor.com, then coming back here if you have more specific questions.

Things to see in Brussels: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mksfca/...th/4255579687/ But a guidebook should also be consulted. Ghent and Bruges are a short train ride from Brussels: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mksfca/...7622960079007/

Um, I think 6 days is way too long fro Brussels. I would be doing Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp instead.

For what it's worth, I agree with Nytraveler. If you don't need to stay in Brussels for business reasons, any of the other cities mentioned would be more interesting.

Yup, me too, though I do think Brussels has some of the best food in Europe.

I like Brussels but have to agree with others, 6 days there might have you climbing the walls with your foot.

Are you stuck in Brussels?

And why, if this is your first trip to Europe, are you going to Brussels? Is it work-related?

With 6 days you can see Brussels as well as Bruges or Ghent. I stayed for a day in Brussels and IMHO 6 days would be way to long.

I was in Brussels last year and saw the Grand Place and Mannekin Pis. That was enough for me. Also beware opf drivers, a car backed into me and broke my hand and just took off.

As others have said, 6 days is long for just Brussels. Do one daytrip to Brugge, one to Antwerp and one to Gent. All easily accesible by train.

I do plan on seeing Brugge and Bastonge. I would like to see some history sites, and site seeing. I would like to visit Amsterdam, but I'm not sure what the best way to go there.

It's easy to take a train to Amsterdam from Brussels.

I strongly disagree that seeing the Grand Place and Mannekin Pis is enough time in Brussels. I would agree it makes sense to take some day trips from Brussels. In addition to places mentioned, Leuven and Mechelen are good day trips. Waterloo is another possibility although it didn't appeal to me when my husband and I visited.

There is a lot of information on different things we did in Brussels and other places in Belgium in my 2011 Trip Report
