Plane Tickets to Paris in March 2013

Hello! We are planning a trip to Paris, leaving on Saturday March 29th and returning on Sunday April 6th. I apologize if this topic has already been addressed, but I am wondering when the best time to book a flight would be and what type of price range I should be expecting? We usually take a Europe trip in the summer and have never flown during the spring... are spring fares typically cheaper? Right now flights are showing around $1300 but I am wondering if this is too early to get the best rate or if this is the normal rate for that time of year. We have paid $1250-$1450 for June/July tickets to Ireland, Italy and Greece.

Of course, I understand no one can fully predict the price but I am trying to get a sense of what to expect. Thanks!

Nobody knows when the "best time" to book is and they never will know.

I suggest you go to Kayak.com and set up a fare alert for yourself.

What to expect? Sorry, missed that part of your request.

IMO you can expect fewer seats, fuller flights, and as a result, little need for an airline to have a sale to fill seats during the usual peak travel months.

Prices will continue to rise; don't they always?

Too bad you missed that sale on United.

People were able to book seats from most cities in the US for about $660 - $700 for travel in March.

Anyway, just keep on checking and another sale might be in the future.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the input. We are flying from Atlanta... I guess I was wondering if $1300 is pretty typical for late march/early April. I was hoping spring fares would be cheaper... But it makes sense that spring in Paris would be tourist season.

You are right; this topic is thrashed out several times a week in these forums and the only answer you can rely on is this: Not even the airlines can be sure about the prices so far ahead. (And, by the way, that means 2014, not what's in your original post headline.) Out of the Midwest the trans-Atlantic fares for next spring and summer appear to be running several hundred dollars above the average for 2013. But this fall there have been a few short sales at well under $1000 for off-season travel. It's guesswork.
