Finding a hotel w/kitchenette in Le Lavandou-HELP!

I am trying to book our "weekend at the beach" for August and we want to stay on the water in Le Lavandou (Aug 6-9). With a 2-year-old, it is MUCH easier if we stay at a place that offers rooms with kitchen facilities. I am having a hard time finding this online. I found one place, Azur Hotel, but they are fully booked. The other "apartments" I have found rent by the week.

Any suggestions/ideas of places to look??

THANKS!

It is extremely common in that area for apartments to rent by the week, meaning starting on Sunday. Other than that, it is very common for many places to not rent for only a few days, in all places.

I don't know whether there is one nearby, but if your main desire is for a kitchenette, you might see if their is a Citadines complex in a suitable location -- those are "aparthotels" and will rent more like a hotel, by the day. I know they have them all over France, including in the South. I know they have them in Cannes and Nice, maybe in Aix.

OK, I'm not having much luck.

Can anyone recommend a place in Le Lavandou (around 100 euros/night) that is on the beach and has A/C? Forget the kitchenette. : )

Merci!

My family and I stayed in Cavallaire sur Mer last year...which is a couple of seaside towns over from Lavendou. We found the flat by searching www.frenchconnections.co.uk
I remember that some of the owners were very willing to rent us for less than a week - since we were trying to figure out our itinerary and thought we would stay a shorter time in the area. We ended up staying for one week but you might have some luck with that site - it is a rent by owners type of site but everyone (and we contact about 10 owners) was very helpful - even recommending other home owners or passing our name along to someone else in the area when they couldn't meet our needs. Most contact for us was done via email.
FYI - Most of the site is geared towards Brits so a lot of the $$ quoted was in British Pounds Sterling so keep that in mind when you see the prices (some were in Euros) but very easy enough to convert from Pounds to BPS to Euros if need be.
Good luck...I'd be curious as where you end up...let us know.

Dear 4totravel - THANK YOU! I took your advice and checked www.frenchconnections.co.uk, and found 2 properties that looked like possibilities. I emailed both owners, and one of them wrote back and offered "the room" - a separate room attached to a larger property that they rent. He sent pictures and it looks perfect for the 3 of us. AND...it's in Bormes Les Mimosas! A 10-minute walk to the beach. We are thrilled! Thanks so much for the recommendation - I wouldn't have found the site without you.
Cheers!
Mindy

Wesch,

I don't see how you could possibly walk from Bormes les Mimosas down to the beach at Le Lavandou in just 10 minutes;
Bormes is up on the hill overlooking the coast. But Bormes is a lovely place to stay, and it would be a short drive down to Le Lavandou from there.

Well...actually the owner said the "room" is located between the port of Bormes and Le Lavandou. He said most people that stay there never use their car at all. We'll see. BUT...I've read so many good things about the area, so I'm just jazzed to be staying there.

Ah...that makes a big difference, as the port is of course right on the coast, whereas Bormes-les-Mimosas is about 6 km north in the hills. Be sure to get up there while you're in the area, as the village is really charming and beautiful. It also has the great advantage of a large parking lot for visitors.

Wesch - I am so glad the site worked out for you. Bormes Les Mimosas is a lovely spot - with the village on the hilltop - great fun to stroll around and the lower village by the port and beaches.
There are some good little wineries "fill your own two litre jugs for 2 euros type places" near the beach area. One was called La Faviere (if my memory holds). You should check it out - very poular little spot with the locals. We found it because we almost stayed at an apt. in B-l-M and some of the information that was shared with us from the owners was about this little vineyard.
Personally I preferred this town over Le Lavandou.
The beaches are nice and sandy...good little waves (nothing big)...great little vacation spot.
Enjoy!
