When I saw the title of the post I thught it was from a Foreigner.

My guess is swandav is heading back to beloved Switzerland. Just a guess, though.

Wherever your trips take you - congratulations!

I think too, Switzerland. He must've forgotten to get those cow and sheep bells the first time

And now he forgot to tell us which country. Who knows what next he'll forget. Wanna bet?

Hey --

maitaitom wins! **Of Course** I'm going to Switzerland! You'll hardly ever see me posting on any other destination! And not only am I going back to the same old country, I'm going back to the same old lake, Lac Leman. I have reservations in the town of Villeneuve, about 5 km south of Montreux but only 2 km from my old stomping grounds. I'm looking forward to my old walks, some new cycles, and a few new restaurants.

I was considering another destination for this trip, but as usual I followed my heart.

So -- how many times can we get excited about our same old loves?

Congratulations swandav! I am so glad you finally make it to Montreux again. And remember ... planning is most of the fun

Please say hello to Freddie Mercury's statue for me, and have a glass of local wine!

Btw, I was forced to tell you that our mutual friend is excited for you too! You know who that is, eh?

Best wishes, Ingo

Swandav,

I am nearly finished with a blog from my 2003 trip (better late than never, but I didn't know blogging then) which includes some great pictures from Switzerland.

I hope to post my new site with pictures and report here in the next few days. The pictures should put you in a Swiss frame of mind. We were there in Fall 2003, and you were very helpful in telling us some places to go. Say hello to Chateau Chillon and the cows in Gruyére for me, and put the double berry, double cream thing on my bill.

Oh, MaiTaiTom, the cows in Gruyere, you mean the exhibit on the observation platform at a rest stop? Something to remember! At least now I know where the mad cow disease comes from!

That is so funny. We stopped at that rest stop. I was actually talking about the cows on the drive up to Gruyére.

Hi All,

Hey maitaitom, I just love your wit, so even besides your Swiss photos, I'll be looking forward with great eagerness to reading your blog!! Creme double -- on you, for sure! But then . . . well, maybe if I cycle to Gruyeres, it won't settle on me.

Ingo -- I didn't know you were a fan of EM. Sure, I'll wave at him for you! Not Chaplin? How about the ducks? Hey, I can almost taste that Vaud white, sitting at the Auberge de Rivaz, and maybe I'll even get to that cave in Lutry. So much to do, so much Switzerland, so little time. Yes, I really miss "the one who won't be named!!" I real loss for the board, for sure.

Thanks for your good wishes, SuzieC! It's already so hot & humid here, I needed to start my Swiss escape!

FainaAgain, I was so happy to see that you enjoyed your time in Switzerland!

schuler, hey, what about MY villa??

Thanks, folks, for the support!

Ha ha ha ha I usually pull the suitcases 3 months before a trip - all of them. It makes me feel so much better!

Later I decide which one, and pack 2-3 days before departure. But till then at least 1 suitcase is in the middle of the living room

Are you packing all black? Or shorts and sandals/white socks?

Oh, S! You've made my morning! Actually, I think you've probably made my week! I am so happy for you! (However, your mention of the Auberge de Rivaz tugged at my heart a bit too much. Such wonderful suppers.) And the vineyard walks with the view of the lake. Ahhhh.

I've been shopping for a laptop so I can follow the forum while I'm convalescing, and the decision process has put me in a black mood. Any recommendations? Wireless. I know I'm sort of changing the subject, but I'm counting on a lot of Switzerland-related threads to get me through this. Maybe someone will start a new SGFTWLS? Hello to Ingo! J.

Hey,

FainaAgain, NO, no to shorts & socks. Probably a lot of black!

Hey jw! I think the laptop is a great idea -- it's about time you splurged a bit on yourself! You can look forward to maitaitom's new website w/photos, eh? And of course you can go back to all the old pictures. Sorry I have no recommendations for a specific model/make. Sorry, too, about mentioning the Auberge/Rivaz, but it's high on my list of return visits! I am really looking forward to sharing some Dezaley & white asparagus with you there someday! Not too far in the future, I hope. Hey, my cousins will be in Locarno next week -- if they blog or post pictures, I'll be sure to pass them on to you!
