FCO to Tiburtina

Reviewing threads I am a little confused. I read that the FL1 goes from FCO to Tiburtina. Is it a metro train? Is it direct? Do I just get on at FCO and get off at Tiburtina? From metro map looks like I get on at FCO and then either change at Piramde or Termini? Thanks in advance for putting my mind at ease as to what to do.

There about 10 stops in between FCO and Tiburtina. No change.

You don't have to change. YOU get on at FCO and get off at Termini. On the route map, it's the green line from the airport which you can tell goes all the way to Tiburtina. This train departs more often (every 15 minutes) than the Leonardo (every 30 minutes) and travel time to Tiburtina takes about 45 minutes (8€).

It does stop at Piramide (stop is actually Ostiense), but does not stop at Termini. To get the list of stops, on Trenitalia enter Fiumicino Aeroporto and Roma Tiburtina with a date within the next 7 days. Click the i next to the regional train you are interested in and the list of stops will pop up. I wouldn't buy this ticket online as there are no discounts, no reserved seats. Just buy it at FCO.

Here's the info about the two trains on Trenitalia. The reason not to buy these tickets online in advance as they are for a specific time window. If your flight/luggage are delayed, you might miss the time window.

Thank you so much. I had that very (VERY) basic map and so saw no connection between FCO and Tiburtani. Appreciate it.
